Electrical Engineer II

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
The Electrical/Electronics Engineer must have progressive experience in complex military electrical and/or electronic systems such as aircraft power distribution systems, microprocessor-based systems, real-time networks, computer graphics, and analog and digital electronics. Experience shall include design, development, and integration of complex military electrical and/or electronic systems; plus experience in overseeing design and development of hardware projects. Responsible for electrical engineering support of existing products and services including military aircraft hardware, firmware, and systems.  Provide engineering support to manufacturing personnel to solve production problems.  With some guidance, design, test and debug somewhat complex electrical circuits to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards and customer needs. Evaluate potential solutions to engineering problems for feasibility, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
 
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines is required: electronic warfare; navigation; command, control, and communications; avionics; data and information processing, or design engineering. Must be able to develop technical requirements based on operational scenarios, across all phases of system development (including concept exploration, design, integration, test, and fielding) for highly complex systems/subsystems.
 
Apply problem solving skills to analysis of new and unfamiliar engineering problems and review potential solutions with senior level engineers and/or project leads when necessary. Utilize knowledge to design tests and validations of work. Support design changes by reviewing proposed changes, engineering drawings, documentation, and change control.
 
May travel to customer sites to provide customer service support and help resolve problems.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems;
  • Perform in all phases of hardware development, integration/implementation, and analysis;
  • Participate in hardware evaluations;
  • Develop standards and guidelines for tasks being performed;
  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials;
  • Confirm system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties;
  • Develop electrical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials;
  • Assure product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities;
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests;
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations;
  • Keep equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting repair service;
  • Maintain product data base by writing computer programs; entering data;
  • Complete projects by training and guiding technicians;
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies;
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
  • Work closely with Technicians to provide guidance and support;
  • Engineering tools and software;
  • Analog circuit design, testing and troubleshooting techniques;
  • Digital circuit design, testing and troubleshooting techniques;
  • Embedded system circuit design, testing and troubleshooting techniques;
  • Digital signal processing, hardware and programmable logic design;
  • 1553 Data Bus Systems; and
  • ARINC 429

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics or physical science.
Seven (7) years direct experience in a relevant engineering activity is required.
Candidate must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
